Product Development Sample Projects

Problem: This pump manufacturer had an opportunity to develop and sell a very large special pump to transfer liquid sodium at 950 degrees F.   The technical and financial risks were high, because design experience with sodium pumps was essentially nonexistent in the industry.

Solution: High-risk areas of the design were identified early, and knowledgeable consultants were engaged to assist in design of risky areas.  Risky features were prototyped and proven by testing prior to completing the design of the entire pump.

Result: Two units were sold, designed, manufactured, successfully tested and shipped to the customer--on time and within budget.   The customer subsequently ordered more units.
